FEV ranks first in Germany’s GreenTech-Award 2026

FEV has achieved first place in the GreenTech-Award 2026, conducted by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Verbraucherstudien (DtGV). With a score of 83.94, FEV received the highest score among 232 award-winning companies.

The ranking is based on independent patent analysis. Companies cannot apply or submit material for consideration. DtGV evaluated globally granted patents from January 2024 to May 2026, considering patent volume and citation frequency equally across eight environmental technology fields defined by the OECD.

Recognized innovation in transportation and energy

FEV’s patent strength is particularly evident in transportation and energy, two fields that are becoming increasingly interconnected.

In its ranking report, DtGV highlights FEV patents relating to:

  • High-efficiency hydrogen combustion engines
  • Intelligent energy management systems for electric vehicles
  • Fuel cell waste-heat recovery

According to DtGV, these developments provide technological foundations for climate-neutral transportation.

Patents provide a tangible indication of technical development. Citation analysis adds a second dimension by showing how frequently patented knowledge is referenced by later inventions.

Patent recognition does not, by itself, demonstrate market deployment or commercial success. It does, however, provide an independent indicator of where companies are creating relevant and protectable engineering knowledge.

For customers and technology decision-makers, this matters because solutions for climate-neutral transportation increasingly depend on more than individual components. Hydrogen technologies, fuel cells, electric vehicles, energy management, storage, and infrastructure must function as integrated systems.
